Fracking: Take Action Now
Some elected officials and decision makers have created a monster in our state. They are pushing to fast-track fracking in North Carolina putting our air and water at risk. Now, big oil and gas companies don't want to tell us what is in the toxic chemical brew they will be pumping into our land. That is unacceptable!
And there are other causes for concern that the MEC and our legislators are more interested in developing rules that serve the oil and gas industry, rather than protecting North Carolinian’s, their property, and their health: rules concerning whether citizens or even state agencies have a right to know what chemicals would be injected into their backyards by frackers; rules establishing how the state would deal with waste water from fracking; rules that determine whether citizens could stop these corporations from fracking in their private property; and rules that will determine whether cities or counties will have any say in how/where/when fracking is done in their community.
And the MEC just punted again on creating standards regarding chemical disclosure for fracking in the state.
Tell the McCrory administration, the Mining and Energy Commission, and your elected officials to stop this fracking policy and stand with North Carolinians, not polluters!
