Steve is a partner at McMillan & Smith and focuses his practice on the representation of companies and individuals in matters involving antitrust, government regulation, civil litigation, business-related criminal investigations and litigation and conflict resolution. In 2013, Steve was the recipient of the Wake County Bar Association’s Joseph Branch Professionalism Award, the Wake Bar’s highest honor. He also has extensive work in environmental policy, including serving on the Environmental Management Commission from 2005 – 2013 (serving as chair 2008 – 2013). Because of his conservation efforts, Steve was recognized as the 2013 Recipient of the Tar-Pamlico River Foundation’s Great Blue Herron Award for “outstanding contributions to the protection of environmental quality in the Tar-Pamlico watershed.” Additionally, he delivered the 2010 Commencement Address to the graduating class of the Curriculum for the Environment and Ecology, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Steve is a native of Raleigh and earned his law degree from the University of North Carolina – Chapel Hill.
