A North Carolina native, Keisha Samara Horton learned from her own experiences that change is hard, but necessary. She worked hard to overcome many obstacles and felt called to help others do the same. Keisha received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Management from High Point University before earning her Master of Science Degree in School Counseling from North Carolina A&T State University. She began her career in education as a Graduate. It Pays Liaison and Family Engagement Coordinator, before becoming a Professional School Counselor in 2015. In addition to her current position as the Director of Student Services at Parkland Magnet High School, she is also a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor and Licensed Clinical Addictions Specialist Associate. She is the Owner & Executive Therapist for Samara Cares Counseling & Consulting, PLLC, where she specializes in working with 15–25-year-olds and helping them process trauma, mood disorders, and academic/career decisions. She believes that her experiences in the education, mental health, and substance abuse fields are valuable for healing and empowering the next generation to reach their full potential. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her three children, walking, vacationing, volunteering, scrapbooking, and attending arts events.
