Be a citizen advocate

NCLCV Foundation believes we must take action on decisions that impact our families and communities. Taking action can look different for everyone.

Communicate with elected officials

Whether it is sending an email, making a phone call, or meeting in person, you should raise your concerns or provide support to your representatives on issues that matter to you. This can also be referred to as “lobbying” — click here for tips on how to engage effectively with decision-makers.

Find out who represents you

It’s important to know who represents you and your community at the NC General Assembly. If you are unsure, fill out our helpful form below.

Other ways to get engaged

You can also be an advocate by attending an event, writing a Letter to the Editor in your local paper, signing a petition, sharing information on social media, and organizing in your community.

No matter how you choose to participate, we hope that you will refuse to sit on the sidelines when it comes to protecting North Carolina’s people and natural resources. We need to make sure our elected officials hear from us and represent our values and our communities.

Your vote is your voice

Whether it’s your schools, the roads you drive on, public health issues, the air you breathe and the water you drink, or our economy — our elected officials are making decisions that directly impact our daily lives.

What happens when you don’t vote? People who don’t share your values are elected to office. This needs to change.
