Terra Ann Wright, I am a Disaster Case Manager for Innovative Emergency Management, in Spring Lake, North Carolina. I moved to Spring Lake, North Carolina when I was eight years old from Mt. Clemens Michigan by the way of Maryland. I am a mother of three sons (twins age 29 and one son 24) and GiGi to six wonderful grandbabies. I am currently working towards my Ph.D and want to become a professor to assist with women and brown/black people being in the GIS/Remote Sensing or Stem field. This field is growing and the lack of representation is alarming. I applied for the Boards and Commissions Fellowship Program to be able to advocate for Environmental disparities of the lower income people in my community facing disasters. My passion truly is for the people who are at a disadvantage and suffer the greatest impact when a natural disaster occurs. I have seen it first hand and have worked with several organizations to assist people in these various communities. The preparation that I will receive upon completion of the Boards and Commissions Fellowship Program will afford the opportunity to assist in my community by serving on a Board or Commission that aligns with the Environmental issues facing the people in the community.
