For our February 2025 Staff Highlight, we are featuring Ty McFarland, NCLCVF’s Director of Communications and Membership.

As the communications and membership director, I get to brag about our organizations’ accomplishments, as well as tell the stories of the lives we change. On the political side, I work with different forms of media to hold our elected and appointed officials accountable for their actions and votes. At the community-based level, I meet with individuals and families to help them tell their stories and inspire others to get engaged.

I do this work because I love nature and people; and in order to protect both, we need to bring about meaningful change. I believe in the work of Boards + Commissions, PowerUp NC, and Power the Vote because I have seen the change and inspiration they bring to so many communities across the state.
