Civic Engagement at ECU
Over the summer, the Power the Vote NC team partnered with Dr. Outlaw’s Civic Engagement class at East Carolina University to conduct voter registration drives and deliver civic engagement lectures and presentations. In appreciation, Dr. Outlaw and her students invited the team to a luncheon and a class presentation supporting what they learned from the PTVNC Team. During the presentation, the students reflected on key lessons learned from their interactions with Power the Vote NC, discussing topics such as the importance of young voters, the history of Jim Crow, the Electoral College, modern segregation, and stereotyping.
