My name is Janita Gordon, and I am a strong believer and prime example of “success is achievable where you put your mind to it.” I’m a justice studies major with a concentration in forensic science, and recently made the dean’s list at WSSU. Additionally, I’m a 2x’s graduate of Forsyth Technical Community College. Growth and pushing for positivity are my top priorities. As an individual, I’m interested in just and equitable communities and want to be more involved. Combined with my growing skills and dedication I hope to one day become an attorney and make a difference in our community. As a hobby, I like painting, traveling, and being creative as a whole. I am committed to using my education and passion for justice to advocate for those who need it most.

My name is Desiriah Shadd, and I’m from Charlotte, North Carolina. I’m currently pursuing a degree in Justice Studies with a minor in Sociology at Winston-Salem state University. I have a deep passion for justice and law, which has led me to focus my research on the intersection of social determinants of health and crime. As a Dean’s List student and National Honor Society member, I take pride in my academic achievements and my ability to adapt, stay resilient, and approach challenges with patience and flexibility. My experiences have shaped my commitment to advocacy and equity, especially in addressing disparities in marginalized communities. My ultimate goal is to become a lawyer, using my knowledge and skills to drive meaningful change. I’m always eager to learn, grow, and take on new opportunities that align with my passion for justice.
