Arturo Hernandez is a full-time student in a five-year Bachelor
Architecture Program with a Minor in Environment and Sustainability at
Mississippi State University. He is from Winston-Salem, NC, and wants to have
a future career in architecture by applying research and sustainable design in
future building projects and urban design. Aside from architecture being his
passion, he wants to advocate for LGBTQIA+ principles and Latino rights.
Arturo joined the Boards and Commissions Fellowship Program because it is
the first step he will take to create a change in his community regarding
ongoing climate issues and underrepresentation in communities. Once he
graduates with a BA, he will pursue a Masters of Urban Design to apply
community research to redevelop underrepresented areas in North Carolina.
He wants to improve his leadership skills by connecting with the community
and inspiring the community that Latinos can be leaders too.
