Luther Hemby, III is the Civic Engagement State Director of Power the Vote NC, a project of North Carolina League of Conservation Voters Foundation. He started this work in 2016 as a community organizer; canvassing across Eastern NC and worked his way to State Director–managing and overseeing the VR and Civic Engagement programs. His focus is to increase voter participation and provide voter education through civic engagement efforts—where everyone has equitable access and representation in their government, voting, and other decision making process.
Luther is committed to serving his community through volunteering with The Pitt County Human Relations Committee—as the Faith representative At Large. He is a member of several committees including: West Greenville Health Council, Manchester HOA board president, Pitt County Faith Based, Inter-Faith Clergy, and serves as an associate minister at his local church for over 20 years.
His passion is standing with communities who advocate for climate change and being a leader who thrives on being the change he wants to see.
