Terra Wright

Fayetteville Regional Field Organizer
Fayetteville
Terra started out as a volunteer for PowerUp NC Fayetteville, she officially came on board as a full time staff member in July 2024. She is a graduate from Fayetteville State University with a Bachelors in Geography focusing on GIS/Mapping and Masters in Earth Science from North Carolina Central. Terra’s passion for environmental disparities came from her family losing their home to Hurricane Fran in 1996,having to stay in a hotel for over 3 months with her small children and this is where she realized that not all people have access to the same resources and it is even harder for people of color. Terra has worked in a community driven capacity for over 10 years, from working with the homeless, disaster related programs; Hope for NC and Rebuild NC to assist members impacted by Hurricane Matthew and Florence to gain access to repairs to their home or acquire new homes that are safe from flooding in the future. She also runs Spring Lake Strong, a community based organization that provides resources and community events for the residents ; Back to school giveaways, thanksgiving dinners and annual breakfast with Santa that are all free and open to the public. Terra believes that by joining PowerUP NC she can continue creating a space for those in the community that might not have a voice to advocate for themselves.
