The North Carolina League of Conservation Voters Foundation (NCLCVF) has worked for nearly 50 years to turn your environmental values into North Carolina priorities. North Carolinians know how important our natural landscapes (such as our beaches, mountains, and forests) are to our families, communities, and economy.
NCLCVF (previously Conservation Council of NC Foundation) is a nonprofit, tax-exempt organization under section 501(c)(3) of the IRS code. Started in 1971, the organization is governed by its own board of directors, and the work is carried out by staff shared with our sister organization, the NC League of Conservation Voters (NCLCV).
We are dedicated to protecting, preserving, and enhancing the quality of life for North Carolina citizens by:
Elected officials make many decisions that impact our air, water, land, and health. Therefore, one of the most important actions you can take to protect our quality of life is to affect the outcome of those decisions. NCLCVF does this through working in coalition with other nonprofit organizations and community leaders to provide education and resources on how to be a citizen advocate.
Additionally, our sister organization (NC League of Conservation Voters) works with state leaders and agencies to ensure pro-environmental policies are not only passed but enforced to protect our state.
Voting is another critical action for citizens to take to make their values known. Our vision is to see a robust, informed democracy where elected officials reflect citizen interests and priorities. In order to turn this vision into our reality, we work to mobilize citizens to participate in the democratic process through nonpartisan voter registration and “Get Out The Vote” (GOTV) campaigns.
In order to address the multiple challenges facing our state, we need active and responsible citizens. We know that protecting North Carolina’s environment starts with North Carolinians. With your help, we can turn our environmental values into North Carolina priorities.
Additionally, we work closely with our national partner, the League of Conservation Voters Education Fund, to help build a strong environmental movement.
